this film got very high profiled not only because Direk Jose Javier Reyes directed it but more importantly because this is the first movie project of Toni Gonzaga and Eugene Domingo together. Reyes's previous hit films were the Judy Anne Santos-Ryan Agoncillo starrer Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo and Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo. Eugene and Toni are both successful comedians in their respective genres, and seeing them together sets high expectation from movie goers. and because I'm a fan of both actresses, i watched this film full of hope and expectations.
i already wrote a movie review about this film at my blog.and here is my take on this film.
at present time, our lawmakers are in the process of the reviewing one controversial bill: the divorce bill. still, most people, especially from the sectarian community are still against this bill. why? because they
believe in the sanctity of marriage in a family.
maybe, with this thought in mind, critically acclaimed box-office director Jose Javier Reyes directed a film that is well-adapted to this current social and political issue.
p'Wedding tayo, p'Wedding hindi tells two stories of love. the film is top-billed by award-winning comedian eugene domingo and multimedia star toni gonzaga. domingo's character tells the story of a wife who wants separation from his husband (ramos) after several string of marital problems and misundestandings.
on the other hand, gonzaga's character tells her romantic story with long time boyfriend (marudo), their plans on their wedding, and the problems in and out of their wedding preparations and the dilemma of finding true love amidst doubtful love between them.
the story isn't hilarious like other domingo's previous successful films. they presented all the problems any common couple faces in a given similar situation. the story is a reflection or rather a mirror of true to life stories. the numbers of married couples in the country experiencing the same situation as domingo and ramos's increase every year. the idea of annulment enters their mind when faced with big marital problems. it is reality. the film also presented the pros and cons of filing an annulment case as well.
the story of gonzaga's character described the common dilemma of couples planning their wedding day. most women (let's face it) are like gonzaga in real life. women dream of lucrative big weddings. they spend lots and lots of money for a one day event, without thinking about the pressures they're putting on their partner's shoulders. a lifetime relationship can't be measured by how beautiful or how expensive the wedding is. it is about the lifetime commitment that both parties will willingly contribute to the marriage.
while watching the movie, we learned a lot. it's just funny and ironic, that we laugh at things that are actually real. it is very educational. although, it didn't reach my expectation on the laughter level, i left the movie house inspired and educated. go watch it and learn. :)

natuto talaga ako. mahirap magpakasal, pero mas mahirap at mas magastos magpa-annul. tama nga ang mga matatanda, ang pag-aasawa ay hindi talaga parang kanin, na pag napaso ka, agad mong iluluwa.
